"Just a lucky day," Mark muttered to himself, his voice barely a whisper. He’d found the wallet on the train, nestled between the seats. The bills were neatly stacked, a small fortune. He quickly looked around, as though expecting to be watched. *Look at you, always looking for an easy route.* The words, though unspoken, thrummed in his ears.

He scanned the contents: a business card, a few receipts, a photograph of a smiling couple. His own life felt bleak in comparison. He immediately began feeling the familiar sinking sensation in his chest. A quick Google search revealed the business on the card was high-end. *Of course.*

He felt a sudden urge to buy something, anything to fill the void. He almost took the first cab ride he saw, feeling like he might take off without warning. But the image of the couple in the photo, their happiness, held him in place. He knew what he had to do. He hated that he even had to *think* about it.
