Gemotions

The emergency lights cast a sickly yellow glow on the faces around her. Brenda kept running her thumb across the seam of her trousers. She hadn’t spoken much, mostly nodding at David’s nervous chatter. She'd been too curt in the meeting this morning. She knew it, and had felt a pang of regret as soon as the words left her mouth. She could see now how it might have seemed condescending.

She pushed back a stray strand of hair, trying to compose herself. She’d been too quick to dismiss his ideas, too impatient to listen. She hated the way she could let her own anxieties dictate her behavior. Now, trapped, she had to face it.
