He hunched his shoulders, picking at the worn fabric of his jeans. He’d barely slept in weeks. The coding, the debugging, the endless refinement. His app, “ChronoTrack,” was his everything. He'd poured his soul into it, hoping for a sliver of recognition.

He walked into the pitch meeting, hands clammy. The investors sat impassively, their faces like granite. He started his presentation, his voice wavering, when a woman with a sleek ponytail took the stage. On the screen was his interface, his algorithms, his core concepts.

He listened, the blood draining from his face, as she explained “TimeWise”, a remarkably similar app, emphasizing features he’d spent days struggling to perfect. He felt a wave of nausea, a sudden and profound sense of inadequacy. What was the point? His efforts were worthless.

The room seemed to shrink, the voices becoming a distant drone as he slipped out, unnoticed.
