The wind seemed to whisper through the gaps of the newly constructed fence, carrying with it a sense of finality that echoed in Grace’s chest. The air seemed colder and more sharp than before. She wrapped her arms around herself, as if trying to physically ward off the unsettling feeling. She picked at the skin around her nails, a nervous habit she hadn’t indulged in for years.
