Gemotions

The click of Sarah's heels seemed to pierce the morning calm. The open-plan office echoed with the sound. She felt a growing unease. They had assigned her to show the new person, Jessica, the ropes. Jessica was bubbly and full of questions.

Sarah retreated further into herself. She was irritable. The air conditioning was too low. Each request for clarification from Jessica brought a fresh wave of that feeling – a clenching in the gut and a desperate urge to be alone. She found herself snapping at Jessica, her voice sharper than intended. She focused intensely on the screen, feeling the glare against her forehead.
