The empty coffee cup sat cold on the desk. Jessica stared at it, the caffeine having long since worn off, leaving her with a hollow feeling. She'd been up all night, unable to sleep, the accusation replaying in her mind like a broken record.

She felt a wave of exhaustion wash over her, a deep weariness that went beyond physical fatigue. She felt as though she had been stripped bare, exposed. The thought of facing the professor again, of defending herself, made her stomach churn.

Her mind was a jumble of thoughts, racing from self-doubt to indignation. She got up and walked to the window, watching the rain streak down the glass. The world outside seemed just as bleak as she felt within.
