“Well, that’s that then,” Miles muttered, staring at the empty desk. Miss Eleanor, his music teacher, his champion, his… everything, had vanished. Her desk, usually overflowing with sheet music and brightly colored pens, was now pristine. A brief, unsigned note: *Gone.* Miles ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he wasn't even aware he had. The silence in the practice room was deafening. He felt a strange tingling in his hands, a sudden urge to break something, anything, just to shatter the unsettling calm.
