Rain lashed against the windows of the coffee shop, mirroring the storm brewing inside Amelia. She tapped her fingers against the cold ceramic of her mug, the rhythmic drumming a futile attempt to quell the tremor in her hands. Across the small table, Liam was regaling her with a tale of a high-pressure deadline at his "corporate law firm."
