The vastness of the stadium felt oppressive to Sophia. She crossed her arms, trying to ward off a chill that had nothing to do with the cool evening air. Across from her, Chloe was recounting their high school championship game, her voice ringing with excitement.

"You scored the winning goal, remember? It was amazing!" Chloe said, her eyes shining.

Sophia felt a wave of nausea. She remembered the goal, but her memory of that day was tainted with feelings of panic and feeling a sense of dread.

"I think I blocked it," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the growing roar of the crowd.

Chloe’s smile wavered. “What? No. I’m sure…" She seemed to search for words, her face clouding. Sophia looked away, her eyes fixed on the empty field.
