Liam stared at the glowing screen, the words of his younger self screaming back at him. "Dear Diary, Today I felt utterly invisible." He swallowed hard, the muscles in his jaw clenching. A chill ran down his spine.

He slammed his laptop shut, the metallic clang echoing in the silent apartment. He felt a desperate need to flee. He pulled on his jacket, the rough denim a painful reminder of the world outside. The world that now knew how desperately he had felt, at fourteen, about everything.

He walked aimlessly, avoiding eye contact with anyone on the street. The wind whipped at his face, stinging his cheeks. He just wanted the feeling to go away, to stop the churning inside his chest.
