The librarian shushed him, but Mark didn't even notice. He sat, hunched, at a table in the corner, staring at the print-out of his diary. He felt the blood draining from his face, leaving him cold.

He had poured his heart onto those pages, his secret dreams, his hidden fears. Now, strangers were reading them, laughing at them. A wave of nausea rolled over him. He felt exposed, as if he had been stripped naked in a crowded room.

He closed his eyes, trying to block out the world. He wanted to disappear, to vanish without a trace. The scent of old books couldn't comfort him, not this time.
