“There’s been an error,” the doctor said, and the tone of his voice set her teeth on edge. The words were a bland understatement. She stared blankly at the medical records, her mind struggling to process the information. It was as if someone had taken a knife and carved a new reality.

The details didn't align. The medications, the allergies, the previous treatments – all alien. Each entry felt like a personal assault, an unwelcome invasion into her sense of self. It was a violation of her privacy, and of her own body, even. A wave of nausea surged through her.

She excused herself abruptly, not bothering to wait for further explanation. Her legs felt wobbly as she made her way out, the corridors of the hospital suddenly a maze.
