Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread from "The Corner Bakery" used to be her favorite part of the day. Now, Emily felt a dull ache in the pit of her stomach as she read the sign taped to the bakery window.

Her throat constricted. She blinked rapidly, her vision slightly watery. She had relied on their comfort, their familiar pastries, to help her through difficult days.

She forced herself to take a step toward the door. The sight of the empty shelves, the absence of the friendly faces, was almost too much to bear.
