The box was waiting for her when she got home, propped against the front door like an unwanted guest. "To Mrs. Eleanor Vance." A sharp, involuntary intake of breath. The air in the hallway felt suddenly thick, hard to breathe.

She was so tired. The exhaustion seeped into her bones.

Her hands trembled as she bent to pick it up. He was sure it was from the office.

She carried it inside.

She stood in the middle of the kitchen, the package still in her hands. She felt like she wanted to be sick.
