Gemotions

Eliza stood at the edge of the woods, observing the house from afar. She didn't want to get any closer. She gripped the cold metal of her walking stick. She felt hollowed out.

She had been here for hours, just watching. The air felt heavy, laden with regret. Every breeze seemed to whisper the names of those she had lost. The pain was still raw, even after all these years.

She recalled the swing set, the flowerbeds her mother had tended so carefully. The laughter, the tears, the secrets whispered in the dark. She wanted to scream, to shatter the stillness of the afternoon.

She took a deep breath. She turned and walked away, slowly.
