Gemotions

The sound of the gate latch clicking open, again. I had been attempting to read, my concentration shattered. My head throbbed. I closed the book, the pages snapping shut with a finality that felt hollow. There he was again. Buster.

I stared at the dog, a big, clumsy, golden blob, as he sniffed at the base of the oak tree. The feeling was a crushing weight in my chest. I couldn't understand why they let him out.

I went inside, avoiding eye contact. The walls felt like they were closing in. I felt a need to break something.
