Gemotions

The old, familiar scent of wood polish and dust in the hallway now seemed to mock her. The crisp white of the eviction notice blurred before her eyes, the words dissolving into a meaningless jumble. She felt a cold dread creep into her bones.

Her hands trembled as she clutched the paper. She sank onto the floor, her back against the cold wall. She felt the tears welling up, threatening to spill over.

She closed her eyes, trying to blot out the unwelcome reality. She wrapped her arms around herself, as if to protect her vulnerable heart, and wished the world would simply disappear.
