The weight on her chest felt unbearable, like a physical manifestation of her worries. She picked at the chipped paint on the wall, a nervous habit that served no purpose. She wished she had never set up this appointment.

She walked in. The receptionist was kind, but it didn't help. She was shown to a room.

He opened the door. It was Greg, the boy who used to spread rumors, the boy who used to target her for his amusement. He was older, more polished. “Jessica, come in.” The office was surprisingly warm, filled with soft lighting and comfortable furniture. He gestured towards a plush sofa. She sat, trying to appear calm, but a tremor ran through her as she did so.
