He slammed the door, the sound echoing through the quiet street. Inside, Leo’s shoulders slumped. He leaned against the cool wood, the rough surface a small comfort against his rising agitation. Across the road, the gleaming black SUV that had been parked outside Mr. Henderson's house for the last week was gone. Leo had seen Mr. Henderson struggling with his old car. He had seen the bills piling up in the mail. Now, a car that probably cost more than his entire house was gone, probably on a vacation. Leo felt a tightening in his jaw, the muscles working furiously. He kicked a stray shoe across the hallway, a frustrated, useless act.
