The harsh fluorescent lights of the classroom seemed to amplify the feeling of dread settling over Sarah. A 'D+'. Her face burned, the words printed on the test mocked her. She had poured her heart into the presentation, researched extensively, practiced for hours.

She clenched her fists, her nails biting into her palms. The noise of the other students, their casual chatter, grated on her nerves. Each giggle, each shared glance, felt directed at her, at her failure.

She gathered her belongings, her movements jerky and uncoordinated. She couldn't meet anyone's eyes. As she hurried out, she heard someone call out her name, but she kept walking, not slowing down until she was safely away from the disapproving gazes.
