Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread from the bakery down the street usually lifted her spirits. Today, however, it only intensified the ache in her chest. A 'D' on the final project. It felt like a punch to the gut. The world was cold.

She trudged towards her apartment, her feet dragging with each step. The familiar buildings, the bustling streets, seemed to mock her, to judge her. Each step was a challenge. Her eyes stung with tears, blurring her vision.

She fumbled with her keys, her hands clumsy and uncoordinated. Once inside, she collapsed onto the couch, curling into a ball, and pulling the blanket over her head, wishing the world would just stop.
