Gemotions

The delivery person was gone before she could even say thank you. She stared at the flowers in her hands, a bouquet of exotic orchids, their delicate beauty doing nothing to soothe her disquiet. She felt a sudden, fierce urge to cry.

She retreated inside, shutting the door firmly. She set the flowers on the table with a thump. Her hands shook as she reached for a glass vase, her movements jerky and uncoordinated.

She felt exposed, vulnerable, as if the unknown sender could see straight into her soul. She just wanted to disappear.
