Gemotions

The silence in the bookstore felt like a tangible presence. Emily had discovered her girlfriend’s bucket list, tucked inside a well-loved copy of *Pride and Prejudice*. *Write a screenplay. Learn to dance the tango. Adopt a rescue cat.* She felt a flutter in her chest, a nervous feeling that had been building since she made the discovery.

She ran her thumb along the spine of the book, the familiar texture doing little to soothe her. She was overwhelmed, and felt a burning in her eyes. Every time she looked back at the list, she had to stop herself from crying.

She wished she was strong enough to do all of the things on the list. But she wasn't.
