Gemotions

The first day of school loomed. He felt a little tremor of something he couldn't name as he read the welcome letter. It was from Mr. Evans, the very same teacher who had made science fun for him. A strange mixture of happiness and tenderness filled him.

He suddenly wanted to talk to his son about his own experiences, to share his own memories of the exploding volcano project and the star charts. He found himself looking through his old school notebooks. He wanted to give his son a connection to the past.

He called his own father, whom he rarely spoke with, and began talking about Mr. Evans and the wonders of science. It was the first time he had spoken about school in decades. He had to choke back tears.
