Gemotions

The world outside felt… wrong. The usual hum of the street was muted without the presence of her little red convertible. Sarah bit her lip, her eyes misting over as she recalled all the times she drove along the coast. The wind blowing through her hair, the freedom. It all felt like a dream now.

She walked slowly to the kitchen, seeking the comfort of a familiar routine. She reached for the teapot, her hand trembling slightly. As she waited for the kettle to boil, she found herself staring out the window, watching the birds flit among the trees.

Later, she found herself scrolling through old photos on her phone. Every picture of the car was a punch to the gut. The memories were a heavy, beautiful burden she carried. She touched the screen, caressing the image of the car as if it were a lost friend.
