Gemotions

The empty space mocked her. The tow truck had come and gone, leaving her alone with the memory of her old Beetle. She touched her chest, feeling a dull ache. She let out a heavy breath.

She found herself in the kitchen, making a cup of tea. She carried it to the living room, and sat in her favourite armchair. The absence of the car was a physical presence.

She switched on the radio, seeking solace. The music did nothing to soothe the emptiness. She stared out the window, watching the leaves fall from the trees. Her gaze softened. She missed her car. She missed the feeling of belonging.
