The old snow globe shimmered on the mantelpiece, capturing a miniature winter scene. Emily held it gently, recalling the snowy day she’d gone ice skating with her friend, Jessica.

She remembered the crisp air, the thrill of gliding across the ice, the shared hot chocolate afterward. Jessica, however, had always said she fell over constantly and that she nearly broke her arm.
