Gemotions

The new office was a blur of introductions and paperwork. After the meeting, she slipped back to her old desk, despite being told not to. She needed to grab a few things. She sat in her chair, the leather still imprinted with her shape, and looked around the room.

The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the room, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She noticed a half-eaten bag of chips in her drawer, and a picture of her parents.

She reached for the photo and stared at it for a long while, her heart feeling both heavy and hopeful at the same time. She took a final look around the room before heading out.
