The flyer, a stark white rectangle, lay on the worn oak table. "Closing," it declared. Elara traced the glossy image of a steaming bowl of pho, a dish that had warmed her belly and soul for nearly two decades. Her lower lip trembled slightly as she recalled all the times she'd come here, the familiar scent of star anise and basil instantly transporting her to a place of comfort. Her fingers, usually steady, now fumbled with the delicate paper.
