Gemotions

The worn concert ticket, a reminder of their favorite band, sat on the mantelpiece. She could almost hear the music, feel the vibrations of the bass in her chest. She remembered the way they'd held hands, singing along, lost in the music and each other. The whole scene felt fragile, easily broken.

At the bar, she saw him. He was sharing drinks with another woman. The woman was laughing, her head thrown back, her hair a cascade of black. She wore the same expression she remembered from herself, the same light that had once warmed her heart. The ticket felt cold in her hand.
