Gemotions

The golden retriever, a recurring visitor to my petunias, sauntered through the gap in the fence. I was sitting on my porch, drinking tea. The steam rose in the cool morning air. I remembered when I used to drink tea with my wife.

She had always loved animals. Her laughter echoed in my memory as the dog began to dig a hole near the rose bushes. I found myself smiling as the dog shook the dirt from its fur.

I leaned back, savoring the moment, the warmth of the sun on my face. It was as if she was right here with me.
