The rain hammered against the windows, mirroring the rhythm of David's thoughts. He sat huddled on the sofa, the old photo album open in his lap. His grandfather, Papa Joe, was a figure of quiet authority in his memory, a man of few words and stern pronouncements. He always emphasized the importance of hard work and responsibility.

The photographs, however, told a different story. One showed Papa Joe in a band, holding a saxophone. Another revealed him draped in a silk scarf, leaning against a vintage car.
