Gemotions

He stared at the blank page, a sigh escaping his lips. Professor Bell, his guiding star for the last three years, would be leaving the university at the end of the term. The news was a punch to the gut. He'd poured his heart and soul into his research, and Bell had been there every step of the way, offering advice, encouragement, and the occasional stern rebuke when needed. He felt a deep sense of sadness, an emptiness he didn't quite understand.

He walked over to the window, the familiar campus scene suddenly appearing foreign and distant. He remembered the feeling of accomplishment when he first got into this program. He remembered the feeling of belonging, a feeling that had become his comfort zone. With Bell gone, he found himself overwhelmed by the thought of starting over. The familiar weight of the world felt much heavier today.
