Gemotions

The coffee cup felt heavy in Daniel's hands as he listened to Sarah describe the camp's talent show. It was the same one he had performed in, twenty years ago. A shiver of delight traced its path up his spine, and he absentmindedly tapped a finger against the ceramic.

The office, normally a sterile environment of cubicles and spreadsheets, suddenly seemed less stark. He found himself picturing the worn wooden stage, the smell of popcorn, the fear and excitement before the curtain went up.

"I remember the talent show!" he interjected, a smile playing around his mouth. "I played the recorder. Terribly, I might add." Sarah laughed, and Daniel felt a lightness he hadn't experienced in weeks, a gentle lifting of his spirits.
