The old music box sat on a shelf, its delicate painted figures frozen mid-dance. "I don’t even know why we kept this," Daniel said, already picking up the bigger items. His sister, Rebecca, stood stock-still.

She remembered the sound of the music, the tinkling melody that had filled their childhood home. Their father had played it to her every night before bed. It was a sound now inextricably linked to the warmth of his presence, the feel of his hand on her head.
