The old treehouse still stood, a weathered sentinel in the backyard. Liam stood beneath it, looking up at the rickety structure, its planks warped and faded. He could almost feel the phantom weight of his childhood, the laughter of friends, and the sting of humiliation.

He'd been such an angry kid, always picking fights, always feeling inadequate. And then there was Kevin, who seemed to have a knack for finding his weaknesses. He found a crumpled flyer in his pocket, advertising a local practice. "Kevin O'Malley, MS, LMFT."

Liam felt a knot tighten in his gut. Kevin. A therapist. He wasn’t sure what to think. A wave of regret washed over him. He hoped he had become a better man. Maybe he could seek him out, just to see.
