The old train station, with its echoing emptiness, held a particular resonance. As the rain fell outside, Eleanor stared at the departures board, her gaze distant, fixed on the flickering signs. It was a place steeped in farewells and beginnings, a place where memories echoed. She felt a familiar hollowness.

A man, his face etched with a similar sadness, sat on a nearby bench. He, too, seemed lost in thought, his eyes fixed on the rain outside. The way he clenched his fists and took a deep breath showed her he understood.

He stood up. “I’m waiting for no one,” he said softly.
