Gemotions

The roses arrived just as the late afternoon sun cast long shadows across David’s dusty living room. He stared at the box, a wave of warmth washing over him. It was a beautiful arrangement, a riot of colors he couldn't quite name.

He opened it, breathing in the rich fragrance, and then began his hunt for the card. There was nothing. His fingers brushed against the tissue paper, searching, hoping.

He imagined the sender, a phantom figure whose gesture remained unspoken. He took a deep breath, clutching the flowers close as he sat on his couch. A strange tightness formed in his chest, a memory of moments he wanted back.
