The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as Robert sat at the kitchen table, reading the newspaper. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. He felt a deep sense of contentment.

His daughter, Chloe, had been particularly animated at dinner. “Dad, I have Mrs. Jones for math!” The very same Mrs. Jones who’d always made math enjoyable, who’d instilled in him a love for numbers.

He took a slow sip of his coffee, a small smile gracing his lips. The world, for the moment, was perfectly balanced.
