Gemotions

The weight room, usually buzzing with energy, seemed strangely quiet. I sat on a bench, observing the others. The coach had made his decisions, and I had been left off the list. It felt like one of those things.

I didn't begrudge them their success, but I had wanted to get into that uniform. The quiet of the space had a calming effect. I was able to observe it.

I closed my eyes and breathed slowly, picturing the open road and where that might take me. The world was full of opportunity. I had choices. I would walk out and see what they were.
