Gemotions

The gentle lapping of the waves against the shore lulled Sophie into a dreamy state. She watched the seagulls soar overhead, their cries echoing in the distance. The vast ocean, a blur of blue and grey, was a source of great comfort for her. She had been looking forward to this evening. A text message. She had to take a long, deep breath to steady herself. It was over. She stared at the water, then, without changing her expression, moved to gather her things. She could stay there a little longer, perhaps.
