The gentle rhythm of the rocking chair calmed him. Michael watched the sunset paint the sky with vibrant hues of orange and purple. He took a long, slow sip of the iced tea. He felt an easy peace within himself. Everything felt balanced, harmonious, and right. He thought of his afternoon with Claire, the way her laughter brightened his world. It was a good time to be alive. The silence was broken, however, by a woman's exasperated sigh: "Michael, you wouldn't believe the traffic!"
