The soft glow of the fireplace cast dancing shadows on the walls. Thomas sat on the comfortable sofa, a book resting in his lap. The gentle crackle of the fire filled the room with a sense of warmth and comfort. He felt incredibly content. The world felt perfectly balanced, everything in its place. He thought of his upcoming trip with Sophia, their escape together. He was sure everything would be great. He heard a voice, a woman's voice, say with a smile: "Thomas, honey, I'm here!"
