Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, a warm and comforting scent that wrapped around me like a hug. I was kneading the dough, the feel of the yielding gluten soothing my hands. The rhythmic motion was almost hypnotic, my thoughts clear and uncluttered.

A loud clang at the back door announced the arrival of the energetic mutt, Cooper, who belonged to the young couple down the street. It was almost a daily occurrence.

I wiped my hands on my apron, a smile playing on my lips. "Well, hello, buddy," I said softly, my voice calm and even. I opened the door, and he came bounding in, happy and eager. I knew I needed to get him back home before I burned the loaf.
