The gentle strumming of the guitar filled the air, the notes weaving a pattern of sound that filled my soul. My fingers moved across the strings with practiced ease, each chord a moment of pure focus. The music was a balm.

A loud bark and a frantic scratching noise interrupted my reverie. It was Duke, the energetic husky from next door, again.

I lowered my guitar, a smile tugging at my lips. I set the instrument on the stand and stood, feeling relaxed. “Well, Duke,” I chuckled softly. I knew the ritual. Off to the neighbor's yard I went.
