Gemotions

Sunlight streamed into the apartment, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Amelia stretched languidly, the sheet cool against her skin. A gentle breeze whispered through the open window, carrying the scent of freshly cut grass. Across the room, Leo was pacing, phone glued to his ear.

"Absolutely adorable, yeah," he was saying, his voice a frantic buzz. "Perfect for apartment living! Low-maintenance! Okay, okay, I get it…" He hung up, his expression a mixture of excitement and barely-contained desperation.

She smiled faintly, feeling the peace within her deepen. "What's all the commotion, Leo?"

He turned, eyes shining. "A pug! A tiny, wrinkly, snoring pug! The cutest dog in the world! I saw it online. We have to get him, Amelia! He'll fit right in!"

Amelia closed her eyes for a moment, letting the warmth of the sun wash over her. "We barely agree on what to have for dinner, Leo. Adding a whole other being into our routine… that's a big step."

"But…" Leo began, his voice dropping. She looked at him with understanding, feeling the calm settle within her as she considered his eagerness.
