Gemotions

The morning sun, a warm hand on Amelia's face, tugged her awake. She stretched languidly, the cotton sheets cool against her skin. A low hum escaped her lips as she considered the day ahead. A yoga session with her favorite instructor, a picnic lunch, and then… well, whatever happened, happened. It was her best friend Chloe’s birthday, and while Amelia knew Chloe was throwing a huge bash, she felt no particular urgency to rush through her own gentle plans.

Her bare feet padded across the wooden floor as she walked to the window, the soft glow of the sunrise painting the room in peach and rose. A bird's song drifted in, a clear, sweet melody. She smiled, feeling a quiet joy bloom in her chest.

Later, as she carefully laid out the fruit and cheese for her picnic, she caught herself humming again, a light, almost forgotten tune from her childhood. She had decided to simply spend her day in the countryside, away from the impending party.
