Gemotions

The kitchen was bathed in the warm light of the early morning. Sarah poured herself a cup of coffee, the aroma mingling with the scent of cinnamon from the apple pie cooling on the counter. She pulled a dusty box from under the sink, filled with old keepsakes.

Amongst faded birthday cards and dried flowers, she found it - a letter, its envelope bearing her younger self’s scrawled handwriting, addressed to a childhood friend. Her heart fluttered slightly as she unfolded the aged paper.

She leaned against the counter, reading each word slowly, savoring the familiar cadence of her younger self’s voice. The world outside the window seemed to fade away. It was all so simple, so genuine, so… right.
