Gemotions

The elevator lights died, and a wave of darkness enveloped them. Across from him, Mark was a flurry of nervous energy. He found himself almost smiling.

He leaned against the wall, feeling the cool metal against his skin. The usual tension in his shoulders seemed to dissipate. He took a deep, slow breath, enjoying the relative stillness.

He noticed the subtle changes in the air pressure, the faint scent of something floral mixed with the metallic tang of the elevator car. The stillness itself, the complete absence of external stimuli, felt refreshing.

"I could do this all day," he said, a quiet murmur escaping his lips. "Or at least, for a while, anyway."
