"That's a perfect cast-off, honey," Eleanor said to herself. The quiet hum of the sewing machine, the whir of the thread, the clean lines of the fabric...all of this always made her feel at peace. The light from the lamp illuminated her workspace, casting long shadows across the room. She loved how the fabric felt through her fingers.

She turned to see her daughter, Lily, sitting on the floor, surrounded by scraps of fabric. "Mommy, can I make a dress?"

Eleanor smiled, her voice soft. "Let's find some material and see what we can make." She helped Lily choose a bright, floral print. Together, they cut and pinned, Lily’s small hands carefully tracing the lines. There was no talking. When the dress was finally complete, Lily beamed, already planning her next creation.
